When a webpage is cached, your browser saves/stores images and page HTML so it create the impression that the site is loading faster during subsequent visits to the same page or site.

A WordPress caching plugin can have the same impact from a server perspective producing static HTML pages of your website and saving them to avoid trips to the programming language interpreter (in the case of WordPress, it helps to cut down on requests for PHP processing).

WPRocket

WPRocket has become the most popular WordPress caching plugin with features like; allowing users to cache webpages with just one click and automatically turning on recommended plugin settings . By default, WPRocket creates folders for cache files in /wp-content/cache/. Here you will see that each page on your website has their own sub-folder.

W3 Total Cache

W3TC is another one of WordPress’s great cache plugins. This plugin is great for improving search engine rankings and lends its way to being very mobile friendly as well. W3 is a little more advanced and intricate plugin, that could be a complicated setup for beginning users. W3TC stores its cache data in /wp-content/cache/all. Here, W3 organizes their folders based off the plugin settings you have enabled.

WP Super Cache

Another top-rated WordPress cache plugin is WP Super Cache. Super cache stores your webpages cached files under a file directory in  /wp-content/cache/supercache/hostname/ . This plugin gives you the option to change the default name setting of /wp-content/cache/, to whatever file name you would like.

Thankfully all three of these caching plugins using the same cache location as it makes it easier to exclude the cache from application and server-level backups. If you’re experiencing issues with a site’s server cache not clearing, try manually removing the /wp-content/cache/ directory (take great care not remove the /wp-content/ directory of course).
