In mid-July, Google launched their Backup and Sync tool for PC’s and Mac’s!

Using your existing or new Google account you can use this tool to store your files and photos in the cloud on Google Drive.

Sounds great so far, right? Well it gets better!

Once installed, Google Backup and Sync allows you to choose the folders that you want to backup to Google Drive.

This also comes with the option to choose the quality of the photos and videos that you upload (High quality reduced file size or Original quality) High quality image and videos come with free unlimited storage! Original quality files will count against your Google Drive disk space quota.

Since your files are now backing up to the cloud you can access them from anywhere with an internet connection!

Should you ever need more than the 15GB of space Google provides with Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos you can upgrade to paid plans. Right now a 100GB plan runs $1.99/month or $19.99/year if paid annually. If that isn’t enough space, a full 1TB of Google disk space is running $9.99/month or $99.99/year if paid annually.

This is a great and very simple way to setup offsite backups for your photos, videos and any other files you need to retain in the event of a hard drive crash, or other disaster that may wipe out your current PC or laptop.
